ADAPT Inc. is a Japanese operating company working across brands, retail, editorial, and trade. Running each discipline in-house lets us carry the intent of the makers we work with through every stage, and deliver their products and ideas to audiences in Japan and abroad.
ADAPT as an operating company
Rather than building around a single product or a single medium, ADAPT is structured to operate across four disciplines at once. Our own brands, a physical store, cultural content, and import and export — not held apart as separate businesses, but run together inside one company.
When each discipline holds its own knowledge and supports the others, products and culture travel more accurately to the people they were made for.

Brand planning, retail, editorial, and trade. Running all four from the same point of view lets us hold the interests of makers, regions, and buyers in balance, and deliver goods and culture in a form that honors where they came from.
Our brands gain context through in-store retail and editorial communication. The store carries our own brands alongside curated regional goods. Editorial work extends the perspective built up across the brands and the store to wider audiences. Trade connects all of this to markets in Japan and overseas.
Location
Our registered head office is in Ashina, Yokosuka, Kanagawa. Our retail store is in Kamakura, also in Kanagawa.
The head office serves as the operating base for the company; the Kamakura store serves as our point of contact with the local community and with visitors from further afield.
History
Founded in Kanagawa, Japan in October 2019. We have since expanded our in-house brands, physical retail, editorial work, and import/export operations step by step.
